The Sea Gull Leadership Academy
Salisbury University's Department of Athletics proudly announces the launch of The Sea Gull Leadership Academy, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to empower student-athletes with the leadership, life, and career readiness skills they need to thrive both during and after college.
Each year, a select cohort of 25-30 sophomore student-athletes will be selected to participate in a structured, three-year journey of development. The program is built around four core pillars:
- Leadership Development & Team Dynamics
- Personal Growth & Life Skills
- Career & Financial Readiness
- Community Engagement & Networking

The Shari Burke Coaches Fund Honoring Coach Jim Jones
The Shari Burke Coaches Fund Honoring Coach Jim Jones celebrates a legacy of compassion, resilience, and unwavering support for Salisbury University student-athletes. Established by the Burke Family in memory of Shari Burke and in honor of Coach Jim Jones, this endowment supports the Cross Country and Track & Field coaching staff with professional development, resources, and program needs that enhance the student-athlete experience.
Shari was a devoted Sea Gull supporter who cheered not only for her own children, but for every student-athlete, especially those without family in the stands. Inspired by her spirit and Coach Jones’s dedication to mentoring and supporting athletes on and off the field, this fund ensures their impact continues for years to come.
