Urban and Regional Planning
The Urban and Regional Planning program teaches students to use their expertise to find creative ways to resolve urban and regional problems, establish sustainable communities and improve the quality of life. Planners help communities develop their visions of the future and formulate plans that respond to community needs and goals, conserve natural resources and improve public services. A planning degree enables SU alumni to be involved in public and private activities that shape the future of their communities.

Vincent D. Leisey Student Involvement and Leadership Honors Scholarship
Vince Leisey was quick to recognize and value the importance of student involvement and leadership when he arrived at Salisbury (then, Salisbury State College) in January of 1978 as the Assistant Director of the College Center. Following a nearly 40 year career in higher education, Vince established the Vincent D. Leisey Student Involvement & Leadership Honors Scholarship in the fall of 2017. The scholarship supports Salisbury University Honors College students who are actively involved in campus life, either in student organizations, residence life or athletics.
Vince said, “Although I was only at Salisbury early in my career, my years there hold a special place in my heart. Under the guidance of Presidents’ Norm Crawford and Thomas Bellavance, the school was undergoing a period of rapid growth and change. It was wonderful to work closely with so many talented students, faculty and staff as part of a team that moved the institution forward.” It has been particularly gratifying for Vince to see so many of those students accomplish so much professionally.
After nine years at Salisbury, Vince had subsequent assignments in student affairs at Penn State and Carroll Community College, retiring in 2018. Now living in Baltimore, Leisey makes frequent trips to the eastern shore and the University, having maintained close contacts with his colleagues from his time there. He says, “I hope in some small way, the scholarship can help students realize their academic goals while experiencing all the wonderful opportunities Salisbury University has to offer.”
