Parent/Caregiver Support
Help the SU Libraries to provide a family study
room for the parents and caregivers on campus who need to use the Libraries but
also have young children to watch. Studies show students who are parents face
many obstacles and have far less time available to study than students without
children, but they still do well in their classes. We want to help them stay in
school and succeed. And faculty and staff have also indicated that they could
use the room as well.
While we are still working out the details of what
will go in the room, we anticipate that the space will be large enough to
accommodate two families at a time. We will need to add soundproofing to the
room we pick. We hope to have desks, computers, and a printer for the adults.
For the children, we are figuring on child-sized furniture, books for different
ages (we are a library after all!), child-appropriate tablets or computers,
toys, and some drawing and craft supplies. But that all takes money. We
appreciate any help you can give us.
