Presidential High-Impact Learning Experience Awards
To commemorate the Inauguration of SU President Carolyn Ringer Lepre, the Lepre family has established these awards in honor of Dr. Lepre’s mother, Jaquelyn H. Ringer, and Mr. Todd Lepre’s mother, Nancy A. Hamner, who both were staunch supporters of education during their lives and believed that everyone deserved an opportunity to learn.
The Vision
Research shows that students involved in high-impact practices enjoy higher levels of learning success. These evidence-based practices include service learning, undergraduate research, and internships – to name a few. High-impact practices have an emphasis on quality, equity, and student engagement. It is the Lepre family’s desire to offer awards to deserving students, providing financial support for these immersion activities.
The Need
- Student Travel Grant: Subsidizes the costs associated with attending a professional conference or meeting to present the results of original research, discuss a unique academic program, or participate in a visual, performance, or creative arts competition.
- Student Opportunity Award: Subsidizes the costs associated with participating in a wide range of high-impact learning activities, such as, but not limited to, local, domestic, and international internships; study abroad; faculty or staff-mentored research or creative projects; attendance at conferences, meetings, and workshops to present work done for professional development; and service immersions.|
- Graduate School Access Award: Supports Salisbury University students who aspire to attend graduate school. These funds help defray the costs associated with the graduate school search, application, and selection process.
