The Betty Turner Memorial Nursing Scholarship has been created to honor the legacy of an icon who dedicated over 54 years of her life to nursing education on the Eastern Shore at Peninsula Regional Medical Center and Salisbury University. Betty was passionate about education, an innovator in nursing practice, and a mentor to generations of Eastern Shore nursing professionals. Her research assisted the development of many of the critical care programs utilized today and the establishment of emergency response system coordination with hospitals on the lower Eastern Shore.

The mission of the Biological Science department is to provide first-rate educational opportunities for biology and health-discipline majors in preparation for advanced degree work or postgraduate employment. Our degree programs provide students with the knowledge and abilities to apply the scientific process and to think critically about contemporary issues in the biological sciences.

The scholarship is awarded based on auditions or portfolio reviews, showcasing a commitment to fostering talent and passion in the arts. Salisbury University’s football program has had continuous success since its conception. The program has made 12 NCAA Tournament appearances from 1983-2021, 4 NJAC titles in 2015, 2019, and 2021, 6 ECAC Bowl Championships from 2005-2016, and has produced 32 All-Americans. A contribution to this endowment fund will help the football program continue its success on and off the field.
