Literacy Studies Doctoral Program
Support Ed.D. students on their research journey!
Invest in the future of literacy education by supporting the Ed.D. students as they present their research at professional conferences. As scholar-practitioners, these students lead and innovate literacy learning across Pre-K to higher education contexts. Professional conferences allow students to share their research, build professional networks, and engage with the latest developments in the field of literacy studies.
Your gift directly helps cover registration, as well as travel and lodging costs, making these transformative experiences more accessible to Ed.D. students who are eager to contribute to and learn from the broader educational research community.
- $25—covers the costs of materials for a conference session.
- $50—helps with local transportation, such as airport shuttles or public transit.
- $100—offsets the cost of conference registration for a student presenter.
- $250 & up—supports affordable airfare and lodging for an out-of-state conference.
Last year, doctoral students presented their research at the following professional conferences:
- American Educational Research Association
- Carnegie Project for the Education Doctorate
- European Conference on Literacy
- Literacy Research Association

Literature/Film Quarterly (LFQ)
Did you know that a majority of films are adapted from literature,
historical events, and previous movies? Literature/Film
Quarterly is the longest standing scholarly journal devoted to the
study of adaptation, and we've been publishing work on many of the most beloved
films for 50 years! Established in 1973 by Jim Welsh and Tom Erskine, LFQ has
been an indispensable forum for both established and emerging scholars to
define and redefine the terms of adaptation studies. Edited and published at
Salisbury University, LFQ circulates freely and electronically around the world,
attracting thousands of readers every month.
Lloyd-Withrow Endowment for Women's Soccer
Salisbury University women's soccer is getting a leg up for the future thanks to Denise Lloyd-Withrow. Denise, the mother of head coach Kwame Lloyd, is establishing the Lloyd-Withrow Endowment for Women's Soccer. The fund will help provide team needs such as equipment and technology that hopefully leads to increased success on the pitch. While the gift is welcomed by the program and Coach Lloyd, it is accepted with a heavy heart. Denise was recently diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.
"My son Kwame has devoted over 25 years to the development of young women soccer players," added Lloyd-Withrow. "His goal was not only to create talented and skilled players, but to make sure these young women receive the respect and support that all women deserve as they enter the society after graduation. My goal in creating this fund is to help leave a legacy for Coach Lloyd and his contributions to women's soccer at Salisbury University."
